Telehealth CounselingCounseling Services From Your Home
Many individuals, especially those living in rural Maine, find it difficult to connect with the professionals they need. Fortunately, technology has allowed us to over come this obstacle with the arrival of Telehealth Counseling.
What is Telehealth Counseling?
Telehealth counseling is a counseling session through the phone or through the computer via Skype. It can be done from the comfort of your own home or office.
Why choose Telehealth Counseling?
People choose to participate in Telehealth for a variety of reasons. Some of these include: transportation issues, living in rural areas, struggle to leave home, frequent travel and busy schedules.
Do I need special equipment?
Telehealth requires an electronic device such as a laptop or tablet with a webcam and a good quality internet connection for Skype sessions. For phone sessions, you only need a phone.
Does insurance pay for this service?
Yes, Telehealth is covered by MaineCare, Medicare and private insurances.
**please note MaineCare only covers Skype sessions; it does not reimburse for phone sessions.
Is Skype safe?
Providers choose to use Skype because it is free, convenient and it uses advanced encryption standards to protect information.
Are sessions recorded?
No. Skype does offer an instant chat but we do not utilize that because those are recorded.
